Where to start???

As the majority of the ideas i have our in the on-line space it is pretty simple to start with looking at what the site might be, who it might appeal too, who is gonna want to use it and basically if it is any good. Taking those small factors in mind i thought let’s get going with looking at what it might look like and what functionality it might have to deliver against the concept.

So started with registering all the domains……i always find this an interesting part in that should you come up with the concept and build it first and then that leads to the name. That to me sounds the most logical. But not really nowadays as domains are not as easy to just grab, as in the majority of cases someone has got hold of them unless they are quite obscure, which is probably why we get some funky names. Nothing wrong with that and i followed so must be good!

So domain name sorted and on to the requirements.

Please bear in mind i have worked with on-lien for years but i am not a developer, designer, magician, thief or wizard (not sue if all those count) but it means i gotta get some help to make this happen. I also might need some cash which always help.

I had a view from the start in that i wanted to build something that i would put my own money to first before asking someone else as that would always be my first question in that how much do you believe.

So what did i do, i wrote the first draft of requirements.

Introduction

The content of this site is based around an experience i am going on which involves starting a business. I have had ideas and concepts for years about a myriad of different things, most notably in the digital space but for one reason or another not turned them into anything. So…. i decided it was time to give it a go and take one of my ideas and take it through from concept to launch and hopefully far beyond.

I will be honest and say i am not an idiot, well i hope i am not! So i have done research, i have worked in the digital space for over 15 years and i have got some experience. Saying all that it still takes some balls to have a go and that is what i am doing.

This is not a book and not in chapters but will be written as i go through the process and how it works out. I have split it in to three phases:-

  • Thinking
  • Doing
  • Believing

Lets see how it goes…..!

Thinking

So what does this mean, or what has this meant in terms of formulating ideas, plans and really trying to get things going.

I have had quite a lot of ideas over quite a long period as i am sure many other people have, the dilemma has always been in whether it could fly or if it would die. In reality there is nothing wrong with this apart from the fact that in my thinking i didn’t really want to produce a thought that did nothing. That is really the wrong mentality but i don’t suppose that is any different to how a lot of people are thinking right now before really taking the plunge.

So what does my thinking mean? Well to me it has always been taking the ideas i have and trying to think them through to some form of logical output and this is where i am going to start with the rest of what i write here.

As in the introduction i don’t think any one is alone in having hundreds of ideas all the time, i did not have hundreds but have been formulating a good few for a number of years and still have them. What is interesting is that when thinking these through i actually developed one of my thoughts into a set of requirements and then i sat down and reviewed that against what was out there already. What i thought was a good overview for a concept became scary in that there was a huge amount already there!!!!

How do i get any traction

Who is going to look at my concept

Should i be doing this?

Basically i used these questions to really get my thinking more aligned with what would work from this stage forwards and i was ready to go. But wait up in doing this i suddenly pulled out another idea dusted it off and thought that is going to be less of a problem to get out there.

But as always getting the thinking to doing is what makes the difference, so a new train of thinking now
